The NorCal Lawmen Football Organization
announce a change in team management. Team owner Boots James is
stepping
down after ten seasons with the team. Boots James
joined the team as a player in 1999 and then became
a co-owner in 2003 and in 2004 he took over as the
team owner. The team had an overall record of 45-20
over those 5 seasons, won the 2006 GCFL League
Championship and the 2008 NFC Championship. James will keep his
passion for football going as he'll continue to coach
high school football.
The team will now be run by George French and Brad Newnham. The two also joined the team in 1999, and along
with James were players on the Lawmen's 1999, 2000 and
2002 championship teams. Brad Newnham has been the
Lawmen GM since 2004 and will now take the Head
Coach position vacated by James. George French has been the team marketing
director and Webmaster since 2003, has been a team co-owner for the
last two seasons, and will now take the role of President
of the NorCal Lawmen non-profit 501(C)(3) Organization.
Newham and French both played for the Hayward Outlaws of
the Minor League Football System (MLFS) in 1989.
The Outlaws played home games in San Leandro and
traveled to Seattle, Colorado, North Carolina, Florida
and Pennsylvania to compete in the MLFS. Between
the two of them, there are over 45 years of experience
at the Minor League/Semi-Pro level.
Brad Newnham played high school football and then a few years later tried
out for NFL teams, but ended up playing Semi-Pro for the Antioch Hornets.
He then played several seasons for many before ending up on the Hayward
Outlaws in 1989 and finally the NorCal Lawmen in 1999. George French
played at Berkeley High, Laney College and Oregon Tech and then tried out
for sevearal NFL, USFL and Canadian Football leagues before also finding
himself playing for the Hayward Outlaws in 1989. He then played on and
off for the next few years until he also found himself playing for the
NorCal Lawmen in 1999. Both have been with the Lawmen for the last 10
seasons and are looking forward to leading the Lawmen to another title in
2009.
